First, one of the older pieces of work that I’m moving over from the experiments page of my website. This is a self-initiated little project I did on the printing press in the typeshop here at RISD. Just a cute linoleum block print for a valentine’s day card :)

and secondly (this I’m really excited about), my very first piece from the intro to jewelry course I’m taking this semester! We had to make a free-standing object inspired by architecture, made only using cold connections (no soldering involved!). In my case, this wonky little brass house (about two inches tall) was inspired by some combination of dr. seuss houses, minimalist/japanese architecture, and gingerbread houses.

I never realized just how many hours of intense physical labour it takes to make a jewelry piece, and now I have a new found appreciation for everyone in that hard-working major. How do they ever have any time out of their studios?
